I have the eye twitches too and will put a warm wet wash cloth on my eye lids for a minute or two and that helps for 30 minutes or so. I think it has to do with too much computer time and not enough sleep. I thought it was my contacts but wearing glasses didn't help much and possibly too much sodium in the diet or aspartame from gum I chew at work, but I think just too much time staring at the computer.

I have had the occassional eye twitch - the kind that suggests you eat a banana or get more rest, but this episode was different. My right upper lid began twitching out of the blue and I have been dealing with it for over a month. I have prayed, cried and whined about it to anyone that will listen because it is that annoying. I do not know how anyone could go years with this! I have read a lot about it on the web and have tried the basics; preparing myself for botox or a spinal tap. I refuse to go to a doctor as I feel I will not get the undivided attention I need on this subject. I decided to stop taking various vitamins and allergy meds (oneaday-B-FishOil-Ginkobiloba-Loratadine). I have concluded that my allergy pill may be the culprit - Loratadine(Claritin). Now, I have been taking this for years and never had a problem. General web sights did not reference eye twitching as a side effect, but I did find a few that did! At this point I am trying to determine if it is particularly the generic brand I am taking (TopCare). I believe that I just started taking this brand a few months ago and there may be a difference in this brand compared to others. I will try and keep an update on my progress. To all the others that are suffering, I pray for you and hope that you find peace soon.

I had that and I started taking EmerGenC by alacer not the lite you don't want the sucralose I wouldn't do any Splenda (sucralose) or NutraSweet (aspertame) AKA Amino Sweet. Read the ingredients of everything they sneak artificial sweetners in everything. Gum, mints toothpaste,drinks,etc....
EmergenC will give you the electrolytes your body needs including the magnesium and potassium. I drink 3-5 a day in the summer.

The biggie is that when I SNEEZE it activates it like crazy.......do any of you find that it happens when you sneeze? Just curious.

Just curious, how many of you sleep on your stomach's? I have been batteling my eye twitch now for 5+ years. I was about ready to go ahead with a surgery called Hemifacial Spasm Microvascular Decompression at a hospital in Pittsburgh but have postponed it due to my conversations with my brother who is a chiropractor. We have "possibly" zeroed in on the cause which may be a dislocated jaw causing a pinch nerve. He drove up from his home in Columbus Ohio and just adjusted my jaw and it seemed to help. He is coming back in 3 days to give me another adjustment. I am very curious as to how many of you have over time misaligned your jaw like me. If I continue to get success will share my results.

I have talked to three different doctors about it and they just kind of shrugged it off as if I had said nothing at all. Please if anyone knows how to fix this I would be so grateful! It is soooooo annoying!!!

I had an eye twicth out of the blue for a few weeks.
I was starting to think that was me for life. It was annoying but counted my lucky stars that I didn't have tinitus or non-stop hiccups.

I have had an upper left eyelid twitch for quite a while (a month or more). It is very annoying especially when I put on my eye makeup. I know it isn't my makeup. It had never happen to me before. I have tried everthing or the counter and herbal. Many people tell me it might be stress or air I got in my eye. Let me know of something new-if you hear, read anything...unsolved mystery--44 years old

I just googled eye twitch because I have a twitch under my left eye that started a week ago. I wear contacts and thought maybe I needed to update my prescription so I'm making and eye doctor appt. this week. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with a noticeable eye twitch. It happens every five minutes or so. I hope it goes away soon. I'm nervous about it!

This is an update to an earlier post. Overview:My under eye twitch started in Sept 2009. I have seen all the usual docs, ENT, eye doctor, dentist, chiropractor, oral surgeon, acupuncture, osteopath. All of this because, as you well know, the twitch drives you bonkers. I finally was directed to Dr. Higdon in Portland Oregon who is one of the few elite dental professionals who can accurately diagnose and treat TMJD problems. As I have other symptoms, including a wandering headache, neck ache, ear ache and of course the lovely eye twitch. As it turns out, the muscular changes that have happend due to my jaw disfunction are most likely the culprit behind the pesky twitch. The tight muscles and swelling in the cheek area are likely pressing on facial nerve. I finally feel that I am in the right hands and that relief is on its way! I will post again in a few months when my treatment is further along.

Thanks Megg, I think you are on the right track. I have been excited to have found a temporary solution. After months of eye twitching, I accidentally came across a pressure point behind my ear that stops the twitch immediately. I looked at a map of the scull and believe it is the highest part of the mastoid process. I now have a small sore spot behind my ear from pressing on it, but it is better than the twitch. It doesn't take but a few moments of pressure and it is gone. As I say it is temporary. It may be back in ten minutes or an hour, but it works.

Two days after my original post I was doing some research on the "Twitch"! I found a lady who said that her chiropractor told her he could fix her twitch if he could just put the disc in her neck back into alignment. The explanation was that the disc was compressing her Occipital Nerve. So being desperate, I began to gently press on the discs on the back of my neck, well sure enough as I was doing this, I felt and heard my disc realign. I was stunned, it was so simple. The twitching stopped immediately, but I've waited this long to be sure it would'nt come back before posting what happened!?! I did'nt need reading glasses, potassium, magnesium or rest. It WAS a disc, I'm walking proof. I was very gentle when pushing on the discs, so don't go hurting yourself if someone reading this decides to give it a try. I'm truly shocked that it is gone. I am also very glad. Good luck. Oh, the article said one way to know if it could be the disc was if it got worse upon sneezeing, and mine sure did!

Wow, i googled twitching eye bag and its good to see im not the only one with this annoying twitch.

Im sure lack of sleep contributes but i have not tried any supplements for it yet.

It seems magnesium and/or potassium is the general treatment from what i have read on here.

Iv had my twitch for 2-3 months on and off. Its actually funny watching it in the mirrow cos i have no control over the tiny pulsations when it starts
