J.P.C. - Jason Clarke

Software, Hockey, and random ramblings.

Archive for May, 2004

No matter how bad your morning is, it can’t compare to what these people went through, when their helicopter began to spin out of control and landed hard (to understate it considerably) in New York while covering a shooting. Must be seen to be understood.

Songs to Wear Pants to

I posted this on jasonclarke.net just before the server bit the big one. Here it is again for your listening pleasure:

If you have a moment, (which you must, if you’re visiting this site), you absolutely have to visit www.songstowearpantsto.com. This guy takes the contents of emails, and turns them into little mini-songs, no longer than one minute and 11 seconds long. Listen to at least three of them, to get a feel for what he’s doing, and make sure you read the descriptions first.

My personal favourites are:

* IT WAS TOO HOT!
* IT HAS A CERTAIN JE NE SAIS QUOI

And, of course:
* Sasquatch and the Bologna Caper: A Cover of Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag

Music Plasma

Imagine typing the name of your favourite artist into a search engine, then immediately being shown a graphical web of other artists’ names intermingled and linked together, immediately. Sounds pretty cool, right? Check out Music Plasma, which does exactly that.

Found at Boing Boing.

Burke’s Firing

Check out Canucks Corner’s take on the Burke press conference. He makes some good points.

We’ll Never Know

Brian Burke took the high road in his press conference this afternoon which was about the only road open to a fellow who wants to eventually work in the NHL again. (If you missed it, it’s in the CKNW vault….

What’s this “CSS” all about?

Speaking of which, I guess I need to get onto the CSS bandwagon once and for all. The title of this post is facetious, but you get my drift. CSS is the future of the web (and the now, really) - I guess it’s time to catch up!

RTFM!

For someone who considers himself “technical”, I could take my own advice, and Read The F$%kin’ Manual from time to time. I’m very new to Movable Type, and how it uses style sheets. So you’ll notice that my page design sucks, but it doesn’t suck quite as badly as it did an hour ago. This is a work in progress.

Wow… I can hardly remember what it feels like to turn one year old! :-) Josh will be there soon. It’s incredible how fast time goes.
